An Ugly Sweater Greeting:Santa Clause Is Comin’ (came) to Town

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!! Christmas is not over yet, it is 1 a.m. and technically the 26th, but to me it is not over!

This video is from when Adam and I went to an ugly sweater Christmas party.

SO after the party we came home and we just didn’t want to get out of our beautiful sweaters. Actually Adam changed out of his within 1 minute of getting home, but I made him put it back on for our video. We have been learning jazz songs this year and we thought it would be fun to make a jazz version of a Christmas song. “Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town” sounded right jazzed up with some 7ths added and  so that’s the one we went with!!

I have been so overwhelmed with excitement around this years Christmas. It just seems extra magical for some reason. I feel so thankful to have the people in our lives that we have, and have been blessed this year with our move to a beautiful area and enjoying my life together with Adam. I am trying to take it all in and appreciate it, because there will probably be some future years where I don’t feel the same way. And once again I am constantly reminded that it is Christ we are celebrating, and that is something to celebrate.

Thank You World Vision!

Her pretty brown eyes were staring up at me from a sea of cute little faces just waiting to be noticed. I glanced at the close up photo of her face, and I was certain she was the one for me. I knew that in exchange for me not going out to eat twice a month, or not buying a good priced piece of clothing once a month, or not going to dinner and a movie  once a month I could sponsor her. With that money I could provide an education, supplies, and basic needs for her!! How crazy is that??!! In a world where there is a lot of poverty, hate,  loss I found it hard to imagine being able to make one tiny dent in it all.

I am forever grateful to Oletty Munsanje for reminding me and humbling me every month, and especially for reminding me during the holiday season that I don’t need everything. I can probably live without a Michael Kors purse with a matching wallet. (Mom are you reading this!?) JUST KIDDING!! Sometimes I feel a wanting frenzy during Christmas time when people are asking me “what do you want for Christmas”. When I received the already made Christmas card for Oletty from World Vision last month I was able to take a sigh of relief. Thank you for reminding me how much I have.

World Vision is an AMAZING organization that is SO organized and they are really doing a great thing. My favorite part about them is how they don’t just give stuff, they are constantly telling the sponsor children that God loves them, and to so many that alone gives them great comfort and peace. They give me updates on my sponsor child frequently, and they have so many options available for me. I can even hop on a plane to visit her! Maybe someday I’ll be able to meet her face to face to tell her how thankful I am for her.

Anthony. Eva. Dom.

I walked into Anthony and Eva’s home and there sitting in his chair was little Dominic. He smiled at me like he has known me his whole life! All 7 months of it!  He had the BIGGEST smile on his face and he had only met me once at a couple months old! Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think he remembered that brief gathering at Melissa Harding’s when we welcomed him into the world. But maybe I made that much of an impression on him :-)…

The whole day he smiled countless times for the camera and in my book he is the happiest baby I have ever met. You can see why. Anthony & Dominic shower him with their love and have created an amazing home for Dom to grow up in. The whole day was so much fun. It was fun catching up with Eva, getting to know what her life is like post high school choir days.

My favorite part of the day was being able to capture simple every day moments that are in fact so beautiful. I’m so happy for your family Eva!!
