Happy Birthday Love!

Happy Birthday my love. As we waited for 12:00 a.m. last night so I could tell you happy birthday, I couldn’t have felt more happy to be able to tell you that every year.

You asked me what song should be the first one you play at your new age on your guitar and I told you “Lucky” by Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz. There we sat at midnight singing…now as I am writing this I see first hand how corny that sounds, but I wouldn’t want to be that corny with anyone else!

I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend, Happy Birthday sweetheart :)

Love,

Monika

P.S. here’s to 1o more strokes off your golf swing this year like you did last ;-)

The Girl With the Pearl Earring

The Girl with a Pearl Earring exhibit featuring Vermeer’s famous painting and artists from the Dutch Golden age in the 17th century is currently being shown at the De Young museum in San Francisco. I was most excited to see Rembrant’s work since there is a photography technique named after him, no big deal. I was curious to see, in person, how he painted light and I think it so fascinating when different art forms inspire the other.

While visiting my parents this last weekend we realized we had some free time. We purchased the tickets over the phone at 10p.m. Saturday night, talked to a LIVE person (what service!) and reserved our tickets for the following day.

The click clack of my sandals echoed in the open rooms lined with hard wood floor, I strolled through the grey painted rooms, art work covering the spaces in a strategic and simplistic way. I was in awe of the effort it takes to craft a skill, and stood in amazement at the people who became the best at what they did. I was stunned to be in the presence of genuine art work created by the masters you learn about it school. My Dad shared the same feelings. In fact, I think that is what we are talking about in the photo below. :)

Family Getaway | San Luis Obispo Maternity Photos

My brother and sister in law rented a beautiful home in San Luis Obispo full of personality and character Easter weekend this year for our family. The home was built in 1905 and spans 100 acres with horse and cattle grazing and gorgeous scenic views of the Edna Valley and Islay hill. It was a photographers dream to stay here, and luckily my sister in law was almost 8 months pregnant so we were able to take some photos of Jon & Heidi on the property :)

Reaching Top Levels

Music creates motivation for many people. My husband  wakes up to a song of his choice, and continues to listen to music in the morning to  get him up and ready for the day. I like to listen to music while I work and in the car on road trips. I think musicians reach a top level when they have the ability to make people excited to listen to their music. When the music is on the forefront of their mind and they think “I need to listen to that song RIGHT NOW”. I am happy to say one of my closest friends-my best friend-has reached this level!!! I am excited to listen to her songs in the car, in the morning, and during the day! Her music is available on i-tunes Melissa Harding “Set me Apart” and my three favorites are “Waiting for a Sign” “Cold Again” and “Set me Apart”.

And to celebrate Spring…

Happy Birthday Dad!

Dad-Happy Birthday :)

Memories:

Stories read before bed-you wanted one more just as much as we did.

Balanced breakfasts made every morning for us even when we only had time for a couple bites.

Walking along the path to elementary school while you waited and waived to me until I couldn’t see you anymore.

Swing dancing lessons to learn a dance for the song “Rockin Robin”

And most recent (photo below) going to the Grease sing-a-long movie. So dorky I know! We loved it!

I love you so much!

Dad
